Celebration Prins 35 years: 12 September 1986 – 12 September 2021
On 12 September, 35 years ago Prins Alternative Fuel Systems was founded in Eindhoven (NL) as a developer and supplier of LPG systems. The Dutch engineer Yde Prins started ‘Prins Carburatiesystemen’ in the early 80’s but it was in 1986 that Ad Smulders took over the company and started Prins Autogassystemen B.V.. Over the years Prins had several business owners that all contributed to the success achieved today. Since 2016 Prins is part of Westport Fuel Systems, a leading supplier of advanced fuel delivery components and systems for clean, low-carbon fuels such as natural gas, renewable natural gas, LPG (Autogas), and hydrogen to the global automotive industry.
As a brand, Prins continues to provide great value to the automotive industry worldwide. Over the years, we have created a cleaner environment at affordable prices through our state-of-the-art LPG (Autogas), CNG and LNG applications. Our shared values of quality, innovation and customer care set Prins apart from the competition and continue to drive our mission.

Prins has undergone tremendous developments over the last 35 years. Not only did we grown in R&D and system applications, but also in Finance, Sales, Marketing, IT, Production, Operations, Purchase, QA, After Sales Service and Logistics. It has cultivated a unique culture based on excellence not only in customers service, but also in the workplace and in the communities it operates.
We celebrate this 35 year anniversary by hosting an online event for our customers and some stakeholders. In addition, a magazine in which several people look back in the days and look forward was made for this special occasion.
